Research Grants
Funded
1994: Johnson, V. & Mazzulo, A., An MCM Concurrent Engineering Software Tool Market Study ($60,000.00), GOV-Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Commercial Software Developed
2005: Circuit Partitioning. Product that would partition a fully extracted transistor-level design into functional blocks and prepare the circuit for high-speed circuit simulation. A rules-based system was developed to determine if connections (e.g, coupling capacitance) could be eliminated in order to allow for more efficient creation of functional blocks.
2002: Functional Recognition. Product incorporated pattern matching and symbolic simulation to analyze library elements, determine the function of the represented circuit and prepare control files for use in characterization and synthesis.
1992: EDA Assimilator. Electronic system-level manufacturing simulation. EDA Navigator was a simulation environment that would take as input machine descriptions and physical layouts and simulate the manufacturing process as the design worked its way through the process. The product would estimate cycle times, throughput and highlight any potential conflicts. The system created process sheets and recommendations for the optimal ordering of manufacturing steps.
1992: EDA Validator. Layout versus schematic analysis package. The software would analyze and compare schematic and layout information from two distinct databases (potentially created by products from different vendors) identifying any inconsistencies.
1991: Object Oriented Networking Subsystem. TCP/IP based networking subsystem to enable client-server architecture across EDA product line.
1990: Master Librarian. Master Librarian was a component database system that managed electronic design data across CAE/CAD and CAM.
1990: EDIF Schematic Translator. Interface product that allow for the interchange of schematic information between different design tools.
1988: Design Engineer / PC. Design Engineer/PC was a product that allowed engineers to create hierarchical electronic schematics.
1987: Real-time Database Management System For Defense Assets. Database system to manage defense assets, sensor data, environmental information and threat data. System was underlying database for a defense simulation system.
